About the Red Panda
The Red Panda is endemic to the Eastern Himalayas. They’re classified as carnivores due to their ancestry, but their diet consists mainly of bamboo and the occasional insect or egg.
Although they have a lot of similarities, the Red Panda and Giant Panda are not considered to be related. The red panda is believed to have been named after the Nepali word “ponya”, meaning “bamboo or plant eating animal”. This was in the 1920s. In the 1960s, the Giant Panda was discovered, but at the time it was referred to as the Parti-Colored Bear.
After a lot of scientific discussion and several approved and then thrown-out classifications, the Parti-Colored Bear was named the Giant Panda, although it is now considered a bear rather than a panda. The “true” panda was named the Red Panda.
Available in two color palettes:
- Daylight, represented by breezy greens and daylight blues.
- Midnight, represented by bold and playful colors.
