New Arctic Nova Kickstarter! But what is a Kickstarter?
Hi friends,
The Arctic Nova enamel pin collection I designed in collaboration with the multi-talented Georgina Swift launched on Kickstarter yesterday, and wow, what a launch!
As I’m writing this, the campaign is passing its 24th hour, and four out of six designs have already been funded. That’s incredible! And, it’s all thanks to Kickstarter backers who are willing to invest in a project in order to bring it to life. So, here’s a shoutout to everyone who’s helped Georgina and I so far 🙂 <3
What is a Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a platform where creatives and entrepreneurs can pitch their projects to the public in the hopes of collecting enough funding to make their projects a reality. People who back the campaign are called “backers”, and will usually receive rewards once the project has been created.
How does it work?
To pitch your project, you launch a Kickstarter campaign. I back a lot of projects on Kickstarter, usually within games, comics, artist publications and enamel pins. I’ve set my backer history open to the public, so if you’re interested you can check out the projects I’ve backed in the past here. I’ve also created a couple of projects, which you can view a list of here.
What if I back a project and it isn’t funded?
When you back a project, Kickstarter will ask you to register your payment information. However, they will only charge you once the project campaign ends, and only if the project reaches its funding.
Kickstarter and Enamel Pins
Kickstarter is an incredible hot spot for enamel pin makers and collectors. If you collect enamel pins, Kickstarter is a place where you can purchase pins at often highly discounted prices. The prices are discounted because you’re helping the creator fund bringing the pins into production. It will take longer to receive your pins, but you’ll still get them before anyone else (at least according to every campaign I’ve ever backed).
Arctic Nova: an enamel pin collection
Our Arctic Nova project is a collection of six hard enamel pins. The aesthetic is inspired by constellations, and the pins all have a simple, “murdered-out” aesthetic(black and/or white only) to compliment their shiny plating.
Our collection consists of three designs by Georgina Swift, and three by me.
Georgina’s designs:
- Humpback Whale enamel pin
- Polar Bear enamel pin
- Emperor Penguin enamel pin
Evy’s designs:
- Arctic Fox enamel pin
- Orca Whale enamel pin
- Leopard Seal enamel pin

Have you backed any enamel pin campaigns through Kickstarter in the past? What was your experience?
